Alpaca Farm: Quintessence Alpacas
At the farm, you learn about alpacas, their behavior and the production of alpaca wool. The visit is relaxed and hands-on, with time to see the animals up close and understand why their fleece is so valued. This family-run alpaca farm has grown over the last twenty years into one of the most important alpaca projects in Chile. It exports animals, genetics and alpaca products to several countries and has helped develop alpaca farms abroad. At the same time, it is a very pleasant and cozy place where guests from all over the world are welcome.
Upon arrival, we will see a short video about the farm and the properties of alpaca wool, and then we will be introduced to the alpacas. You can feed the alpacas, take photos and spend time with the animals in a calm farm setting. You will be able to hand-feed these tidy and well-groomed animals, which are not shy about visitors.
Following the trip to the alpaca farm, we will visit the factory, where we will see the whole process, from yarn manufacturing to handmade garment production. The guide explains how alpaca wool is classified and how Chile's alpaca production compares with Peru's more famous tradition. You will see machines and equipment, as well as spinning and knitting machines, and get an insight into the production process.
At the end of the visit, you can stop at the farm shop to see alpaca wool garments and accessories, and buy something if you like. This store has several accessories, such as scarves in different designs and colors, hats, jackets, ponchos, and coats.
Lunch Time in San Felipe
After the farm, we will take a break for lunch in the small province town of San Felipe in one of the typical Chilean restaurants.
Private Wine Tasting in Aconcagua Valley
Next, our tour heads to a vineyard in the Panquehue region, home to the Aconcagua Valley. The Aconcagua Valley is one of Chile’s historic wine regions, known for sunny days, mineral soils and vineyards surrounded by orchards and mountains. This region is the source of the world-famous Seña wine and the main exporter of the delicious Californian Hass avocado from Chile.
Whenever possible, we choose a winery where the visit feels personal and not rushed. During the tasting, you learn about the valley, the grape varieties and the style of the wines produced here.
Transfer from Aconcagua Valley to Santiago
At the end of the visit, we return to Santiago in the afternoon.
