    While driving through the Casablanca Valley, we can stop at one of the best wineries for a tasting; available upon prior arrangement and at an additional cost.

    Valparaiso Historical Tour

    Once we arrive in Valparaíso, we begin with the historic port area. Valparaíso was once one of the most important ports on the Pacific route before the Panama Canal. Today, its historic quarter is known for steep hills, colorful houses, old funiculars, street art and a mix of port history and bohemian life.
    In 2003, Valparaíso’s historic quarter was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its urban layout and architecture adapted to the city’s steep hills. We start in the flat part of the city, near the port. Our first stop is the iconic Sotomayor Square, the city's heart. Here, next to the memorial dedicated to the heroes of Iquique, we will uncover the stories and legends of the Second War of the Pacific.
    From there, we take a historic funicular up to Alegre or Concepción Hill and continue on foot through viewpoints, passages, stairways and mural-covered streets. During our walk, we will visit points such as Paseo Yugoslavo, Paseo Dimalow, and Palacio Baburizza.
    As we walk through narrow streets, stairways and viewpoints, you will see how street art, old houses, small galleries and port views shape the character of Valparaíso.

    Viña Del Mar Highlights

    After lunch in Valparaíso, we continue to Viña del Mar, known in Chile as the Garden City.
    We will see the Flower Clock - the iconic landmark of Viña del Mar, the Viña del Mar Casino, and an original Moai statue from Easter Island, located next to the Fonck Anthropology Museum.
    From there, we continue north along the coast toward Reñaca.
    Our next stop is Reñaca Beach. This suburb of Viña del Mar is known for its charming promenade and diverse wildlife, especially the colonies of sea lions resting on the coastal rocks.

    Concon Sand Dunes

    Then we will go to Concon, a peaceful seaside town known for its great beaches and beachfront restaurants.
    Here, we stop at the Concón sand dunes, with wide views over Valparaíso Bay and the rocky coastline of Concón.
    After the Concón stop, we return to Santiago and drop you off at your hotel.

    How much walking is involved in Valparaíso?
    Valparaíso is a city of hills, stairways and uneven sidewalks. We use a funicular to avoid one of the main climbs, but the visit still includes slopes, passages and stairs.

    You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable walking for a couple of hours with stops. If you prefer a slower pace, we can adapt the route and focus on the most accessible parts of the hills.
    Can we add a wine tasting in Casablanca Valley?

    It works best if you want the day to include wine as part of the experience. If your priority is to spend more time in Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Reñaca and Concón, we may suggest skipping the winery so the coastal part of the tour does not feel rushed.
    Will we have time for the Concón sand dunes?
    Yes. The Concón sand dunes are part of this route and one of the reasons this private Valparaíso tour is different from a classic Valparaíso and Viña del Mar tour.

    The stop is planned for the second half of the day, after Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. Some days are perfect for a short walk on the dunes; on windy or foggy days, it may be better to enjoy the views from easier access points.

    This is a long day, so it is better not to plan an early dinner reservation or another activity in Santiago right after the tour.
    Can the route change because of traffic or weather?
    Yes. Traffic between Santiago and the coast can vary, especially on weekends, holidays and in summer. The coast can also change quickly: Valparaíso may be sunny, cloudy, windy or foggy on the same day.
