Transfer from Santiago to Maipo Canyon

    2 hours

As we leave the city behind, the road starts to climb along rivers, vineyards, and rock formations carved by ancient volcanic activity.
We will make a short stop in the mountain village of San José de Maipo to see traditional Andean architecture before continuing deeper into the mountains. Our journey continues along a winding road that gradually reveals towering peaks and glaciers.

    San Jose Volcano hike

    3 hours

Reaching the Cabrerío sector, at the base of the San José Volcano, we begin our guided hike.
From the start of the trail, we'll face an elevation gain of about 230-300 meters before reaching a wide, flat valley at about 2,500 meters above sea level.
The trail goes through the wide Engorda Valley, surrounded by massive vertical rock walls and peaks that rise above 4,000 meters. Wildflowers, fresh mountain air, and the steady presence of the San José Volcano (5,580 m) create an unforgettable scene.
After about 3 hours of hiking, we take a break to enjoy a picnic while soaking in panoramic views of the San José Volcano and the glacier-covered ridges that define this part of the Andes.
After the hike, we will head back to the vehicle.

    Transfer to Colina Hot Springs

    Colina Hot Springs

    1.5 hours

Next stop - Colina Hot Springs - a rustic, terraced system of natural thermal pools formed by mineral deposits. The warm, mineral-rich waters offer the perfect reward after a trek in high-altitude terrain.

Take time to relax, soak, and enjoy the peaceful mountain setting.

    Return to Santiago

    3 hours

As the afternoon light softens over the Andes, we begin our return journey to Santiago, arriving in the evening.

    Santiago

Arrive back in Santiago at 6:30 p.m.

    Information

What to Bring: Please bring your own water bottle for the hike (we also provide additional water in the vehicle). For the hot springs, pack a swimsuit, a towel, and light flip-flops to move comfortably between the pools. A small snack and a camera or phone are also useful for enjoying the landscape and capturing the views.

Clothing: For this mountain hike, we recommend wearing sturdy trekking shoes along with layered clothing suitable for changing Andean weather. A windproof jacket, light long sleeves, a hat or cap, high-SPF sunscreen, and sunglasses are essential due to strong sun exposure at high altitude.
