Your guide and driver pick you up in Santiago in the morning, usually around 9:00 a.m.
Transfer from Santiago to Cajón del Maipo
We drive through the Andean foothills to Maipo Canyon (Cajon del Maipo), about 2 hours from Santiago, Chile. Admire the wide views of the flowing rivers, verdant valleys, and high peaks on your way.
Embalse el Yeso & picnic
Finally, we arrive at Embalse El Yeso, a turquoise reservoir at about 2,500 meters above sea level, surrounded by high Andean mountains. It is one of the most popular places in Cajón del Maipo for photos, fresh mountain air and a picnic with views. Here, you can walk along the shore, take in the fresh air of the mountains, and take lovely photos of the beautiful surroundings. Your guide will provide an interesting historical and regional context for the dam.
Transfer from Cajón del Maipo to San José de Maipo
San José de Maipo & Casa Chocolate
On the way back, we will stop at Casa Chocolate - café and chocolate shop, which has striking vernacular architecture resembling a house made of chocolate, and visit San José de Maipo. In this small mountain community, we will take a short walk through the central square, viewing the colonial architecture. Here, you will have time to visit local artisan stores.
After the stop in San José de Maipo, we return to Santiago and drop you off at your hotel.
